02 Preterite – IR Stem-changers (e-i)

Posted by Señor Jordan on Feb 8, 2009 in conjugation, grammar, ir, preterite, reflexives, stem-changers, verbs, year 2 |

Hola. Finally there is a video (although a little long) to explain those strange stem-changers in the preterite.  Although you might remember that -ar and -er verbs in the preterite don’t stem-change like they do in the present, the -ir verbs have to be weird.  This video will explain how (e-ie) and (e-i) -ir verbs work in the preterite.  Enjoy!

Notice that servir is actually an (e-i) verb in the present. This was a mistake in the video!

Let me know if you have any questions, comments or suggestions about this video below!

According to this video(4:46) “servir” changes from e to ie, but I think it is from e to i.
Great videos thank you.

Thank you for your excellent videos. I am using them for review and am viewing them in sequence. This, the 113th one, has the most difficult material so far. I’ll have to gather strength before viewing again.
