1. Direct Objects (part 1)

On this post, I’ll give you an idea on how to go about doing that.

Disclaimer: Please understand that I give you permission to download my videos provided you are not financially profiting off of them.  Downloading other videos from Youtube could get you in trouble legally.  So please use the program with caution.

Step 1:Download Youtube Downloader

So I really like Youtube Downloader.  It’s spyware and malware free and you can download it off of CNET.  You can also search on Google “Download Youtube Videos” but who knows what you’ll come up with.

(When installing, I always make sure to unclick on everything it tells me to install because those programs are not needed for the program to work. )

Step 2: Find Youtube Video

So with the Youtube Downloader program open, find a youtube video that you want to download.

Step 3: Copy video address into Youtube Downloader

Go to the video you want.  Then look at the top to the url of the video and simply copy all of the text and paste it into the Youtube downloader program.  You might notice that once you copy it, it will automatically paste the url into the program for you.

Step 4: Download video

Make sure you check how good the quality is if you want the best available or lower.  Then click on the download button.

Step 5: Save video to somewhere you can find it

It should type the title of the video automatically into your file-save window.  Then just save it.

Step 6: Your movie file

For Ipod:
Once downloaded, your movie file will be able to be dragged onto your Ipod.

For teachers:

If you’re a teacher wanting to show it in your school, you can now transfer the file to a USB drive and take it to school.

• Option 1: Show in Quicktime
  The file is in MPEG-4 format.  The program that can usually open that without any problems is Quicktime. So you will need Quicktime installed on your computer at school.

• Option 2: Convert files
  You could also convert the file to a different file type that your computer at school could play.  I would try either WMV or AVI.
  

• Option3: Download VideoLan
  There is a really good program that can show all sorts of file types without any problem that is FREE!  It’s called VideoLan.  You could download the install file and put it on your USB drive and take it to school or have your tech guy install it on your computer for you.

Yay for summer vacation!  I’m seriously working on videos.  You might not realize how long the planning process takes

I just found out that you can watch them in high quality here too. It isn’t a drastic difference but I have noticed that things look a little crisper at least!  Keep reading to see how to do it!

I read an article awhile back about restaurants where you could pay whatever you thought was fair. Sometimes people overpay, other times people underpay. It intrigued me.  (See story)

Ok all.  Here’s the low-down.

As I’ve explained, the videos are meant to be free and that will not change. I don’t want anyone to pay for them. They’re just something I’d like to do to help anyone with their Spanish.  But who is to say that someone isn’t so appreciative of the extra Spanish help that they want to give back?

So here we go. I’ve created a poll to see what you think about the Paypal button on the side of the site that I’ve added. Please be honest.  You can also comment below this post to let me know if you have an opinion not expressed on the poll.  Any feedback is welcome and appreciated. I’ll let the poll run for a week or 2 and then after reading the results, I’ll heavily consider them before deciding to keep the button or take it down.

I don’t want people deterred from coming to my site because of the button and I don’t want people to think I am begging. Like I said, the videos are free and that won’t change. I’ll continue to do them and hopefully the quality will continue to improve!

My brother suggested that I do a ‘making of’ video of my video-making process. I just might.

Until then I thought I would blow your mind with what you would probably never imagine the room I worked out of looked like.

Also, if you were wanting to do something similar, this is what I’ve been using.

In above picture: indirect lighting, green screen, microphone hanging from ceiling.  The mic is actually going to be a new addition to the video making process that my brother just made possible for me to use in buying me a camera for Christmas that it plugs into.

In above picture: laptop acting as teleprompter, camera and much messiness. Wow I should really clean it. If only video editing wouldn’t take so much time!

I am currently a high school Spanish teacher in rural Missouri, but I recently have seen a need both for my students and for everyone else to have a place to go for free Spanish lessons that are numerous and helpful.

My goal, by the end of this school year is to have 100 videos (or more).  Then each additional school year, I plan to add more videos to fill in gaps.  If you ever have a topic that you would like covered, please let me know and I can make a lesson for it.

I’ll probably get a lot of flak for this from people, but these videos do not contain vosotros/vosotras because I do not use either form with my Central American friends.  Whenever you need it anyways, it’s not too hard to pick up.  Sorry if this inconveniences anyone!

If you wonder what text I teach from at my school and what order these videos will lean towards, it is the Paso a Paso series by Prentice Hall.  I love it. Vocabulary will usually come from this series, however I might add my own.  Please be aware that words do differ from country to country or even in regions of the same country.
