Sobre mí
Hola. I go by Señor Jordan and in college I majored in Spanish and communications at Truman State University in Kirksville, MO. I currently teach junior high and high school Spanish in a rural school in MO.
I first started learning Spanish in high school and ever since then, I’ve been in love with the Spanish language. I studied abroad while in college in Costa Rica. I also traveled to Mexico for a week on a missions’ trip. I’ve since helped out as an interpreter for a mission’s trip to El Salvador and another one to Guadalajara, México.
While I was studying at Truman, I stumbled upon a Spanish-speaking community in a nearby town and quickly became a part of them through a local church. Since then, I have actively been a part of their congregation and I currently live in the community.
People often have asked me how they can learn Spanish better and I’ve noticed that there are not very many good free resources. I would also not like to recommend someone to use a paid service since I would hate for them to waste money on a bad program.
Due to that and my wanting to help out my students, I decided to start this site. My idea is much larger, but for now I will be uploading videos to help on Spanish grammar. Hopefully they will help you as well!
¡Adiós!
-Sr. J

Thanks so much for your dedication and hard work! I have been studying Spanish for about a year and I am so glad I found your website. I went to Guatemala last year for a mission trip and I vowed to learn Spanish so I could communicate when I returned. I did return (and I am going again next month as well) and it was wonderful to be able to at least participate in basic conversations as well as understand the sermons (or the general idea anyway) when we were invited to the local church.
There are a lot of people who could benefit from that as well. That would be a great resource for a church…
I do have one question though…and maybe I just haven’t found it yet. Is there a review or recap video of some sort? I went through a paid program that was very good, but I do enjoy yours much more. Each video is specific (as it should be) but I would love some kind of a ‘refresher’ that might include an assortment of topics. Kind of like a 15 minute flashcard…
Again, I love, love, love your videos and I am so grateful for your hard work. You are a very gifted teacher and certainly God will bless you for using your talents. If I hear of anyone taking Spanish or wanting to learn, I tell them about you. Maybe you should do Spanish to English videos?? Just a thought
God Bless…

Hola Senor Jordan. Your videos are absolutely perfect, fun and my students love you! I teach High School Spanish in British Columbia, Canada, and was wondering if you might consider doing a Video conferencing session with my students or via another technological medium so that my class can meet you in person. I did this with another University professor in Ottawa with my Psychology class, and it went over really well. I think they would be thrilled to see you in person and have an opportunity to hear your experiences with the Spanish language and perhaps teach them a mini lesson on something. Of course this is just a request, and I understand you are very busy, but I hope you might consider the possibility. Please contact me if this is of interest to you.
Muchas gracias from myself and a very enthusiastic Spanish class!

One of my students found your Señor Jordan design. We would like to use it for our Spanish club T-shirts. We do not make money from this, but I wanted to have your permission.

Hola, hola! I have toyed with making videos for my students since I purchased a nice DSLR. But since I found yours, I have to wonder if I’d be reinventing the wheel! Do you make your videos during the summer? They really reflect your planning!
Anyway, thanks for the free resources – I teach high school Spanish II, and I want to hook them on Spanish so badly! I’m hoping the more I incorporate realia and technology, the more it will become more real and accessible to them.
A fellow teacher and sister in Christ,
Erin

Hola, Sr. Jordan. Me gusta mucho este sitio. ¡Gracias por hacer los videos!
Un poco de inglés… Have you ever heard of khanacademy.org? I just heard of it from my principal and immediately thought of your videos when I visited the site. They are a free educational site that provides videos, practices, and assessments for students, parents, and teachers. They don’t have any language instructional videos at the moment- which is why I thought of you! It would be phenomenal if your videos could be paired with their exercises. I am not associated with them at all – I just think it would be cool if your videos could be added to their library!
Keep doing what you do – your videos are awesome!

Help…what’s the next lesson after 01061? Love the videos; they are most helpful. The length is perfect as they don’t become overwhelming. Isolating subject matter is great. Many thnks.

My students’ parents are incredibly greatful for your videos. When students cannot come after school for extra help, or when they need review but curriculum and SOLs require me to advance, students and parents can turn to you. Your videos are clear, concise, helpful, well-planned and designed, and students can play them over and over. Each video has a small focus. Nothing is overwhelming. I have several links to your YouTube videos on my blog. I will encourage students to visit your website, too. Le agradezco millones de veces.

Sr. J -
I am a fan of your videos. I use them in class frequently. They are good, concise, and inerrant explanations of stuff.
I have been trying to put together some spanish educational music videos. Actually, I have plenty of songs, but only one video so far. I’d love for you to take a look at it.

Jordan,
I am teaching Spanish for the first time in several years. I have been teaching primarily French. I was thinking about how I could flip my classroom so that most of my time in the classroom could be spent in speaking, reading and being with the students individually. I was thrilled to come across your videos!
My husband (who is a college professor & minister) & I often tell students that you fulfill God’s will in your life when you take your calling and do the best you can with it. You are obviously a gifted teacher. I think you are fulfilling your calling. Thanks for the videos. You amaze me with your creativity. It is great for my students to hear another voice explaining things besides mine!

Sr Jordan, I used to live about 35 miles from Kirksville. There’s a couple of very interesting communities you might want to visit, very unusual. Near Rutledge. The names are Sandhill Farm & Dancing Rabbit.
I continue to thank you for the videos & all the work you do!

Thank you very much for your videos! I love Spanish language and I learn it by myself. I am from Poland and we don’t have many schools where we can learn Spanish. Most of them are private and quite expensive so I decided to do it myself. Thanks to your videos I understand more and I can learn very useful phrases! Thank you very much!

Hola Sr Jordan,
I’ve also been using your videos with my middle school students in Seattle, and they’re great. PLEASE keep them coming! Also, I totally agree with Srta Anderson that KhanAcademy.org should incorporate your videos! I came on here today to tell you that myself, and then saw her post. Check them out if you haven’t already. He’s amazing, but has nothing on languages.
Gracias,
Elisa
