Hola. Finally there is a video (although a little long) to explain those strange stem-changers in the preterite. Although you might remember that -ar and -er verbs in the preterite don’t stem-change like they do in the present, the -ir verbs have to be weird. This video will explain how (e-ie) and (e-i) -ir verbs work in the preterite. Enjoy!
Notice that servir is actually an (e-i) verb in the present. This was a mistake in the video!

seguir – to continue
conseguir – to obtain, get
servir – to serve
vestirse – to dress oneself / to get dressed

los tomates – tomatoes
mucho – much, a lot
en – in
las fiestas – parties
la piscina – pool
les – to them, to you all / for them, for you all
su(s) – his/her/their/your(formal)/your (plural)

According to this video(4:46) “servir” changes from e to ie, but I think it is from e to i.
