01 Vocabulario – El Cuerpo (parte 2): El dolor

Posted by Señor Jordan on Feb 15, 2010 in present, verbs, vocabulary, year 1

¡Hola!  In this video lesson we’re covering some of las partes del cuerpo or ‘body parts’.  I also decided to throw in some words that we can use with the body parts to describe someone’s dolor. That is, ache or pain.  In the video I describe a boy’s pain.  We have two phrases we can use to describe his pain: tiene dolor de and le duele(n).

Let me know if you have any questions, comments or suggestions below. Hope you find it helpful!

01 Direct Objects (lo, la, los, las)

Posted by Señor Jordan on May 30, 2009 in grammar, vocabulary, year 1

Hola. This video lesson covers complementos directos (direct objects).  In Spanish we have to  be a little more careful with direct objects than in English because we have to take both ‘gender’ and ‘plurality’ into account. Oh right, and we put them in a different place in the sentence.

Let me know if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions about this lesson.

02 Preterite – IR Stem-changers (o-u)

Posted by Señor Jordan on Feb 13, 2009 in conjugation, grammar, ir, preterite, reflexives, stem-changers, verbs, year 2

This video lesson covers -ir verbs in the preterite that stem change.

In the present, they change (o-ue) in the yo, , él/ella/ud, ellos/ellas/uds forms.  In the preterite, they do something a little different.   I apologize for it being a little long.  Hope this video is helpful.

Let me know if you have any questions, comments or suggestions about this video below.  Enjoy!

02 Preterite – IR Stem-changers (e-i)

Posted by Señor Jordan on Feb 8, 2009 in conjugation, grammar, ir, preterite, reflexives, stem-changers, verbs, year 2

Hola. Finally there is a video (although a little long) to explain those strange stem-changers in the preterite.  Although you might remember that -ar and -er verbs in the preterite don’t stem-change like they do in the present, the -ir verbs have to be weird.  This video will explain how (e-ie) and (e-i) -ir verbs work in the preterite.  Enjoy!

Notice that servir is actually an (e-i) verb in the present. This was a mistake in the video!

Let me know if you have any questions, comments or suggestions about this video below!

02 Preterite – Irregulars – Song!

Posted by Señor Jordan on Jan 21, 2009 in conjugation, grammar, irregular, preterite, song, verbs, year 2

To help you with remembering quite of few of those irregular verbs, I’ll share a song I learned back in high school!  This song is also on page 2 of the preterite conjugation sheet.

This song helps you remember the yo forms of some of the common irregular verbs in the preterite.  If it sounds familiar that is because it is to the tune of  ‘La cucaracha‘.

HD version with newer titles:

*Note* in this video on a verb chart, the él / ella / usted form should not have an accent on “ió” and should read “io” since “vio” and “dio” do not have accents.

old version (2008):
